                              / Letterpress /

The letterpress project was part of elective work undertaken during my MA at London College of Communication, the challenge was to take the word 'Four' and typographically illustrate it in an attractive and unusual way. I struggled at first to come up with anything that either had been done before or was truly eye catching and provocative, I ended up trying to look at it in another way and attempting to illustrate the word without using it at all. The result was this, the word 'Four' represented in binary code. This was a painstaking process which involved a lot of frustration, draft copies and the endless patience of Alex the Letterpress Tutor, but eventually after 8 days of work six final copies were produced. I really enjoyed this project, it was great to experiment with a new technique and to learn a useful new skill, can't wait to get back in there before the new year to work some more!
